Burnt After Watching

Together with Robinson’s Movieworld and Viva, Nuffnang Philiipines’ first movie premiere night for bloggers was held last night 8pm at Cinema 6 of the mall sponsor featuring “Burn After Reading” starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney.

Being more of an action-movie fanatic than comedy, I was more excited for the fact of being able to meet fellow Nuffnangers in person than to watch the film.

Nonetheless, the movie was not a disappointment. Although the first half of the movie seemed dragging and you’d want to go home after the third, the latter half sent the audience in a roller coaster ride of comedy and thrill. By this time, you would also realize that the boring first half was actually relevant to establish the movie’s plot for the second. You’ll then pat yourself in the back for having been able to sit it through.

Brad Pitt’s role was the simple-minded gym instructor who’s role was kind-of-cut short (and I won’t tell why). It is also nice to note that Pitt, John Malkovich, and George Clooney’s roles were not abused and instead, shared almost the same level of exposure with the other characters. 3 out 10 for the first half, and 8 out of 10 for the second. That makes an average of 6, plus extra 2 since the uneventful first half was actually needed for the story.

A film by Joel and Etahn Coen, Burn After Reading gets an 8. =)
